A room should be shown as it’s intended purpose, for example, this area needed to be shown as an eating area, as the only other eating area was the formal dining room. 
By simply removing the sofa, corner cabinet, refreshing the tired green barstools with a coat of white paint, we created a quaint little eating area.
Not an extreme makeover, but effective nonetheless.
